A PICTURE’S WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS: VISUAL STORYTELLING IN MARKET RESEARCH

If there is one thing I’ve learned from working with clients, not everyone loves raw data files as much as I do.  Where I see interesting patterns and captivating brand stories, many see endless rows of numbers and percentages that are difficult to absorb. Thus, one area I’ve been trying to improve is how to translate the insights I find in data sets into engaging visuals for clients, as these visuals can simplify and enhance understanding of study findings. Regardless of how compelling a particular data set is for the brand, if no one is able to fully understand the insights, then no story is really told.

Lab42 dives into this art of visual storytelling and why it is a more efficient means of reaching others. A majority of the population are visual learners, making visuals an optimal way to communicate insights quickly. So next time you are combing through a data set remember to ask yourself, “What picture is this painting?”
