Enhance Retail Display Effectiveness
A leading security products company partnered with W5 to optimize its in-store padlock display in major home improvement retailers. The client wanted to explore shopper behaviors, purchase drivers, and display effectiveness providing insights to refine product organization, messaging, and digital integrations to enhance the shopping experience.
Approach
The first qualitative phase of research included a multi-day online discussion and independent in-store visits, where shoppers explored the padlock aisle and documented their experiences. W5 then conducted a quantitative online survey with shoppers, evaluating retail display designs, security level messaging, and digital shopping tools. The final phase consisted of in-person focus groups, where shoppers interacted with the display prototype, providing real-time feedback on layout, messaging clarity, product differentiation, and digital tools such as QR codes.
Results
The research revealed how shoppers interact with in-aisle displays and make purchasing decisions, highlighting key factors that influence navigation, product differentiation, and messaging clarity. These insights informed strategies to enhance the overall retail experience. Based on the findings, W5 provided targeted recommendations to optimize display organization, communication, and digital integration to better support shoppers and increase conversion.
